THIRST FOR RIGHTEOUNESS.

Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6 .

Can you remember the last time you were really hungry? What did you think about? Could you concentrate on anything other than your desire for food? Or can you remember the last time you were really thirsty? The longer you went without water, the more desperate you became to get a drink. As important as food and water are, righteousness is even more critical to the life and health of your soul. Do you treat righteousness as if it were of little importance? Or do you actively pursue it? Child, I am your Shepherd, and you are My precious lamb. I want to lead you into paths of righteousness. But when you focus on gratifying your other appetites, your soul is filled with everything but righteousness. The only way to gain a driving hunger and thirst for righteousness is to follow Me. Look at My life and activities and imitate Me. Listen to My words and do them. This will cause you to hunger and thirst for righteousness. Other attractions of the flesh will lose their hold on you, and I will satisfy you to the depths of your soul.

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16.

Secretly Do Good Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites  do—blowing  trumpets  in  the  synagogues  and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! The Right Way to Give. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be  in  secret.  Then  your  Father,  who  sees  what  is  done  in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:3–4. I know you want to be more like Me. And yet the enemy of your soul whispers to you that it’s hopeless, that you aren’t good enough and you don’t have the power to change. He’s a liar!
